During a calm dinner at Atlantic, SLCpomp ran into 1 half of Coal Umbrella. Remember Coal Umbrella the fantastic vintage store in Provo and Brinton J who is a part of the local music scene here in SLC.

Brinton, Maht, Liz
All three members of this super group have their own individual style that shines through even in this bad lighting.



Maht
Is wearing a striped polo in red with a fur trimmed coat. When you own one of the best stores in the state, finding good clothes is a given.



Liz
This is probably one of the cutest photos we have ever taken. Look at that little smile! Liz is rocking the oversized shirt with tight black jeans and a members only jacket. She accents her look with a fun scarf and versatile brown boots.




Brinton
Brinton is a member of several local bands, specifically Devils Whale that has its CD release the 19th at Palladium. He is only wearing a couple items; classic blue jeans, good shoes and a beanie. These common items are brought together and made truly significant with the pairing of his knitted sweater. Everything fits well and looks as though they were made specifically for him. The person who made that sweater must have been channeling Brinton that day.

I Drink by the Jug, COAL UMBRELLA

Just down the way from MODE, Coal Umbrella is tucked in an upper floor.



This top floor space was completely renovated by the owners of Coal Umbrella. They scraped layers of wallpaper and flooring to reveal the original elements. Coal Umbrella is essentially a second hand store that also carries some vinyl albums and other treats.



Each room in Coal Umbrella has a theme and its own customized look. When we visited we were overwhelmed with selection. They have vintage dresses, leather jackets and tapestry bags. They also carry a couple surprises in the way of a bath tub full of old sewing patterns, glass bottles of Soda, and so many western shirts one would die of western shirt bliss.







Coal Umbrella is part of the Provo Gallery Stroll and hosts an artist every month. They also carry clothing from local Provo artists.





This is definitely worth checking out. Coal Umbrella is probably in my top 5 favorite stores in all of UTAH.

Relax and Take Notes

Along with finding a lot of cute clothes in Coal Umbrella we also found Kaylie.



Kaylie is a student at BYU but has yet to declared a major. She is a big dress/skirt fan. Her dress in this photo is from Platos Closet and only put her back $10. Her undershirt was purchased in Athens, Georgia at Angora's Closet (Always someone else's closet.) Her grandmother made the vest. The entire outfit exudes a carefree, fun attitude. I enjoy all the prints on top of each other that make a complex texture.

This was Kaylie's second trip to Coal Umbrella. She was purchasing a tennis dress and a floral jacket. Her spring outfit will consist of lightweight . . . DRESSES!
