You know when the main act hasn't shown up yet and that poor shmuck gets sent on stage to distract the audience? I'm that shmuck, and I'm stalling. S.L.C. Pomp has a pile of photos waiting to be processed and posted, but dillapidated internet connections have caused a delay. Here, read this:
You won't be seeing me around Salt Lake City for a month and a half or so; I've returned to Los Angeles and the collegiate life. Meanwhile, Frances and our newly acquired Freelance Correspondent, Marcela, have been dashing from fashion spot to fashion spot finding all of you. Today they are in Park City for the end of Sundance. Frances and I have also been swapping fashion trends via phone calls and this thing called text messaging, which I still find mind-boggling.
We have both found new fashion icons from old movies recently. Hers come from a documentary called Grey Gardens (see photo above), ostensibly about Jackie O's aunt and first cousin and their decrepit mansion, but actually a goldmine for clothing trends.

I, in turn, have become addicted to Diane Keaton, particularly after watching Woody Allen's Play It Again, Sam. I appreciate the recent exploding fascination with Edie Sedgwick and the mod scene, but I adore turtleneck dresses, floor-length skirts and high-waisted plaid pants. While post-Annie Hall Keatonism has yet to make a comeback, I'm willing to bet it will soon. It's inevitable.
I hope this was a viable distraction. I don't think anyone threw tomatoes at his/her computer screen. If you did, it must really, really suck to be you right now.

Speaking as someone who was at the height of her fashion life when "Annie Hall" came out, I can only hope Cait is right about a resurgence in Annie-fashion. I had a fine assortment of baggy menswear vests and billowing white tailored shirts. And big chinos.
I've seen every vintage Woody Allen movie at least twice (that is, prior to when he became a child molester).
The sad thing is, I didn't save any of the clothes. They would have come in handy for Keaton admirers circa 2007 who might want to raid my closet.
just came across your blog and i'm so happy to see this great addition to slc blogging!
you are girls after my own heart. i have been obsessed with diane keaton since the first time i saw annie hall. i've never seen play it again, sam so i immediately added it to my netflix upon reading this post. my next fave 1977 inspiration for 2007: three's company.
